tHiS aNd tHaT...

Hey boo… it’s late and I have been working far too long on that stupid IPPP Bulletin thingy… I’ve been staring at the monitor… yeah I know… what else is new?! Oh well…
The meeting with her today was short because she had to ‘shoot-off’ for some class or something like that and the quorum was waiting for me at the car park. Went through the progress I’ve made on the bulletin and dropped by to see Ann… she was far too happy to inform me that I will be working with some guy called Suhaimi in the next issue… suddenly I am not sure if I am doing the next issue… anyways, Prof. Nik asked about the tutor position that I applied for. I told her I haven’t heard from the department. Mama appears to be right when she said I might be stuck there everyday and that my workload will be more than what they’re giving to Luqman now… that tends to happen to me… fuck it… oh well… I have made my commitments and I have prayed to God so that everything will work out for the best for everyone; and I honestly have faith it will… even though I might be stuck with menial stuff like scribing or preparing the minutes when I could be sitting in my own office and making loads of money, it’s all in the plan… so bring it on babe… I called Luqman because Prof. Nik said I should ask him what the job is going to be like even though he’s told me before that he’s free most of the time; and I asked about the pay, which turned out to be far less than I had expected… oh well… I am not in it for the money… but I can’t help but feel devalued somehow… I guess if I keep telling myself that Malay saying about the snake not losing it’s venom by creeping under through the roots, I might actually start to believe it…
I chatted with Rifqah yesterday… and a little just now. She’s her usual self I guess, although I couldn’t really tell for sure because I haven’t seen her for a while now… but then again, how much can one change.
Premjit came to see me at Lotus, just like she said earlier (which is a surprise really…!!!) and she looked so different… she’s gained some weight from what I can see but still attractive. She’s a Punjabi after all… she brought her notebook with her and insist that I take a look at it (although she’s not sure what’s wrong with it, I don’t think she’s even sure if the is anything wrong with it) so I took it back with me… she couldn’t stay because she had to go to a family outing at Hartz Chicken Buffet… hehe… so she’ll see me later to take her notebook back. Knowing her I might actually have to hold on to the thing until her next trip here… but we’ll see.
Uncle Husin called earlier about the Perlis project. Even though it’s not a big project; I am excited about it for some reason… I don’t know why. I’ll call FELDA tomorrow to find out if we get the job.
Nathan was still bitching about HP being slow to respond. I don’t understand why the transaction have to take so long anyways, it’s a purchase for gods sake… at this rate it’ll be some time before he gets his notebook.
Oh well… that’s all I have to say for now… like anyone cares anyways…
Bless…

tAbLeT pC...

Blogging on the tablet pc for the first time... it's a pain... the writing recognition software's a bit stupid for starters... the virtual keyboard is much needed to compensate for that. I suppose there're other problems like installing softwares and stuff that requires a cd rom drive...
Maybe that's why the notebook+tabletpc costs a bum...

mY LoVe...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MA!!!!

LiViNg iN a sHoWrOOm....

More meetings coming up… there’s just so much that I sometimes forget what they’re about… at least I am not bored right. The Perlis meeting went well and it ended quickly with not much queries on both parties. It was a quick 30 minutes and the Plantation Manager gave stomped his rubber and signed the papers… it’s a done deal… god willing.
A quick shop and eat and we off… back to KL.
Anna’s move to her new apartment is well-timed I suppose. It’s been put off long enough; and the electricity is finally connected… damned connection or something like that caused the delay… now for the big question… how our apartment was going to adopt two more beds, another dining table (10 seater no less), a single bed, a queen bed, a cooker, 3 dressers and a bunch more stuff… gosh our place is going to look like some store… Mama says we need a lot of stuff for the penthouse and no use wasting away good furniture… so we’ll just bear with it for now… it’ll be like living in a furniture showroom…
Ayu and Uncle Izatdin is here to help with the moving at least… bringing along a good share of ‘stories’ for us… the ‘stories’ just don’t seem to dry up… and it always get worse and worse… who knew… I knew… or did I?! The end is always near… if only all of us could see that. *sigh*
I don’t think I can finish up the IPPP Bulletin stuff by Monday… I will try my best… we’ll see what Sunday brings…
Bless…

We left at 12:00 midnight from KL and 20 hours later we returned from Perlis having traveled 1,492 km in 20 hours. My back was sore from the car ride. One meeting… that’s all… I am glad it’s over…

rAmaNG... NiCe fAmiLy...

Hey Boo… I wanted to write about Ramang and his family coming over to my place on the 31st August… but I have been putting it off. Well, there’s nothing really special that happened but we’ve finally met his Mom… she’s a cute character. She is very nice and humble. A little the grandma-ish type… but I suppose she have it no other way. We took them to the clubhouse but they had to leave early because they are having guests over at their place for a birthday party. We didn’t have time to cook a proper meal for them so we had to order KFC. They didn’t seem to mind.
Work has been catching up again since then. Stress levels have increased, and consumption of ice-cream and sweets have dramatically elevated. *smiles* I suppose I’d have it no other way.
… signing off for now.

sTreSS... biTcH!!!

Have you ever felt stressed out for no apparent reason?! When everything just bugs you crazy… the bloody mutt downstairs; the stench of your neighbor cooking some bloody stinking food; the sound of children at the pool… I don’t know?! I must be going crazy!
The feeling starts in your gut… you feel smothered. Nothing gets done; I’ve been working the whole damn day and it seems like I have done nothing at all… what then have I been doing for the past twelve hours? Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! You know work just keeps coming and you give it your all… then you start to wonder… is this bloody worth it?! Is this worth my bloody time?! I don’t know. I don’t know anything. I know I get pissed that people look so good on TV; what the hell is with that?! How can everyone look good…?! I mean what are the damn odds for that actually happening?!
You know I keep my Instant Messengers on when I work… when someone bugs you when you have clearly stated ‘busy’ and you courteously entertain them, you’d expect them to at least return the favor… right?! I don’t know. Maybe I am too bloody demanding.
Damn it!
Damn it!
You know sometimes people expect too much from other people… maybe I do too.
Okay then… I am a bitch! That settles it… now back to work!

Hey Boo,
I have this awful soreness in my neck… I can even look down… *ouch* I think it’s probably because I’ve been working on the computer too long… I’ve lowered my chair so I don’t have to look down to the monitor anymore. 25 degrees my ass *wink*
I better get started on work now… will write more a little later.

wOmAn = tRoUbLe...

I know I've been neglecting my blog for about a month now... there's no excuse really. I've just been blog-blocked I guess... much into the routine. I don't see anything interesting to write about; and the last thing I want is to infect my blog with the boring life that is mine...
Anyway, I got this from Rosaini, a friend of mine from UPDiT UM, and I thought it was cute. So enjoy!

I'vE bEEn uNpLuGGeD.... *smiles*

Hey boo… I’ve been ignoring you again haven’t I?! It’s all for a good reason though. I have been rather preoccupied this week. With what I can’t really tell… it’s bit here and there really and it all adds up.
I made muffins for Yati on Sunday. I made two flavors; chocolate and raisins. We thought we’d give some samples for AirAsia’s in-flight services. She told me yesterday that they had some halal certification issues. I was really looking forward to the deal. All is not a loss yet though… or at least that’s how she sounded to me. I don’t really understand why I am so exited about this anyways, it’s not like it’s going to be some big business… I guess it’s the fact that I love to bake; muffins in particular. We all can remember how that bakery supply shop of mine turned out in Penang :P. I guess this is somewhat a continuation of that… I am always bitching about movies that didn’t have closure and not being conclusive… so this would put my mind at ease… being able to finish what I started. Mama wasn’t too keen on the idea. It’s not my place to be into such things; and she has a point. It’s something I like though; and I can always hire help. Enough about that… we’ll wait and see how it turns out.
I was at Sayed Hazmi’s last night. I had a good time on PS2 with Ajik. He got that Naruto game as per my recommendation :P. The controls were a bit hard though. I liked that Dragon Balls 3 game though. At one time; I was actually mastering some of the controls and countering some of his moves; he unplugged me… poor blur ole’ me though I was still on the game and struggling desperately with the control buttons only to see my player being bashed by his… he started to chuckle and I realized I had been unplugged… *laughs* being bullied by a nine year old on PS2 is kind of fun (or maybe ten year old… hmmm I’ll make it a point to find out next time I am there).
I’ll stop here for now… will post more in a bit…

pEniS... eWWWWwwww...

I got this from Premjit and I thought it was hillarious.

I , the penis, hereby request a raise in salary for the following reasons:

I do phyical labor
I work at great depths
I plunge head first into everything I do I do not get weekends off or public holidays I work in a damp environment I don't get paid overtime I work in a dark workplace that has poor ventilation I work in high temperatures My work exposes me to contagious diseases

Dear Penis:

After assessing your request, and considering the arguments you have raised, the administration rejects your request for the following reasons:

You do not work 8 hours straight
You fall asleep on the job after brief work period You do not always follow the orders of the management team You do not stay in your allocated position, and often visit other areas You do not take initiative - you need to be stimulated in order to start working You leave the workplace rather messy at the end of your shift You don't always observe necessary safety regulations, such as wearing the correct protective clothing You'll retire well before reaching 65 You're unable to work double shifts You sometimes leave your allocated position before you have completed the day's work And if that were not all, you have been seen constantly entering and leaving the workplace carrying 2 suspicious looking bags.

Sincerely,
The Management

Problem Solving Philosophy... yeah right... I like the concept though. Life can be a bitch that way some time; but who am I to complain.

dEpReSSeD...

Hey Boo… I haven’t posted anything since Tuesday… a lot has happened actually… I am just too depressed to write about them…
This week I am just feeling very down. I don’t really know why though. Everything feels out of place. I bitch about everything. I eat like a pig. But nothing helps still… maybe my stars are not aligned properly or something like that.
I haven’t gone for registration. I called on Friday and they told me the coursework students are still registering for their courses so I’d rather go next week so I don’t have to fight the crowd. I hate a crowd. I tried calling Professor Nik for a chat but she never answers her cell phone. It’s always that “… this is Nik Meriam…” message that I get. Oh well, maybe she’s busy.
Meetings are frequent as usual. I have to go see them contractors in Subang again on Monday. I’ll just go with Tan because Mama wants me to handle this deal. Enough about work…
I was looking at cell phones just now… Fairuz wants to get one. I am still using an old Nokia 2100 since like my undergraduate days… maybe I’ll get a new one… I thought the slim Nokia phone looked cute.
I chatted with Leonard earlier. I really wanted to go out for Pat’s dinner outings but timing is always against me… I thought Leonard would help cheer me up but he seemed preoccupied with something… maybe I’ll call Kamal. Haven’t talked to him in a while now.
Anyways, I’ll stop here for now.

meLaKa tRiP... pHoToS...

Hey Boo... It's been a while and I haven’t had much chance to post anything… Fairuz stayed the whole week and we took him back to Melaka… so basically, we had to play good host and all, not that I am complaining (we’ve established that I can be a real bitch at time; ermm okay okay… most of the time… hehe) but I’ve always noticed that we don’t get the full at home feeling when something is off… like having a houseguest, staying at a hotel (I should know; we stayed in a hotel suite for a few months…) or even visiting a relative at their house. It’s just not the same… beside the fact that I have to share my bed with him, and it get quite cramped with my 7 pillows and 2 bolsters… oh well, he seemed to have had an enjoyable stay with us and for that I am very pleased.
Tanti was very friendly with him, thankfully, I just can’t tune into his frequency I guess, I will either go “huh?!” or “wtf…?!” with him… Mama and Abah enjoyed his company as well; they played Monopoly and all… on Friday, Uncle Mie slept over so we could leave early for Melaka on Saturday… Anna and Zul showed up late though, so we left KL a little before lunchtime I think…

Melaka was okay; with good ole’ Aunt as sarcastic and cynical like she always is… highlight of the first day in Melaka was some bloody bad ass insect biting me on my arm… the downside of ‘kampung life’. It wasn’t really a big bug, but it sure hurt when it bit me and left two sting marks, like tiny vampire marks… It felt like someone had put out his cigarette on my arm… stupid bug… it was struggling on the floor when it I brushed it off… must’ve broken its fangs or something… anyways, this is a picture of the bite marks taken the next morning…

We had fresh durians the next day from the orchard… Fairus and Tanti went to pick up the durians that fell from the tree… Tanti was complaining about hearing the durians fall onto the ground when she was looking for those that have fallen to the ground… she said “… what if the y fall on my head?!...” I had more than usual… getting a taste for them these few months… a good advancement from not standing the smell a few months ago… next, maybe I’ll try rambutans… hahaha
We left after Asar… Tanti and I rode in uncle Mie’s car and Mama and Abah rode with Anna and Zul… Puteri went with them… Even though Uncle Mie drove slowly, we reached KL before them because they took the wrong exit and got lost in Nilai for more than an hour…

Ermmm… I told Uncle Mie I’d post his picture on the net and he thought I was kidding… so here are some of them. hehehe…

I’ll stop here for now… will write more tonight if I come online…
Bless…

Hey Boo... My computer crashed yesterday... damn it. One of the harddisk failed... I lost all my emails and some documents too... took me the whole day to reinstall windows and get some of the programs running... I think the CD-Burner has gone whack too. I cant even install my Office applications. Oh well, I guess it'd have to wait until Monday.

FuLL SaTuRdaY... MeDiCaL cHeCkuP!!!

Hi Boo… What am I going to write about?! Nothing much has happened this past few days… yesterday I called Premjit and chatted with her for a while. She told me a little about her work and her boring (as she put it) life in Bintulu. She is still active when it comes to socializing… after all, what else could we expect from dear ole’ Premjit Kutty… she is coming back for some sports event by Petronas… I couldn’t chat very long because I had to go for a medical checkup. Registration requirements… oh well…
The drive to baby’s (the Doctor) sure took long enough… traffic was really heavy… I guess everyone is enjoying their free Saturday out nowadays… it’s a good thing I think.
I arrived 30 minutes late for IEM G&S’s AGM. Stayed until 6 pm for the talk on ‘The Route to MIEM’. Back home by 9 pm… after grocery shopping at Giants. Sleep…
Oppps… Gotta go… Kitchen duty!

'eNgiNeeR bOyFriEnDs' aRe tHe BEST...!!!

A good friend of mine forwarded this to me and I thought it was nice... being an engineer myself and all... ahems...

1. Secure lifestyle : An engineer boyfriend can provide you with a secure lifestyle. At 27 years old, an engineer probably has a respectable, stable job that gives him high income to own a car, invest, have a comfortable life, and get married and buy a house too. Law graduates are still working as a lowly apprentice in law firm, most management graduates have just failed on their first business plan, the arts graduate is still looking for a job, and the medical school graduate is still living in a hospital.

2. Unmatchable industriousness : An engineer boyfriend will dedicate an unimaginable amount of his time and effort to understand you. Engineers strain really really hard to understand their work.
You can believe that they will try really really hard to understand women too, just like how they understand their work, once they believe that you are the one. So even if they don't understand you initially, they will keep on trying. Even if they still do not understand, they will figure out the correct method to keep you happy (e.g. buy diamond ring = 1 week's worth of happiness.) And once they find out the secret formula, they will just keep on repeating it so that the desired results appear.
Unlike the Lawyer who will argue with you, the Management graduate who will try to control your spending, the Arts graduate who will 'change major', and the medical school graduate who will operate on you. And you know what, it's really so easy to make engineers believe that you are the 'one'. Say that you like one of their projects and they will be hooked to you forever.

3. An engineer boyfriend will never betray your trust : Let me first tell you what is wrong with the rest of the others - the lawyers will lie about everything, management graduates will cheat your money, the arts graduate will flirt, and you probably just look like another cadaver to the medical school graduate. Your engineer boyfriend is either too busy to have an affair, and even if he does, he is too dumb to lie to you about that. Hence, an engineer is the most secure boyfriend that you will ever find - rich enough, will keep on trying to understand and please you, has no time for affairs, and too dumb to lie to you.

tHe eNgLisH iS hOrRiBLe... dAmNeD biTcHeS!!!

Hey Boo… It may sound pathetic to you but highlight of the day was my meeting with the IPPP Bulletin technical committee at the Postgraduate Institute, University of Malaya. Professor Nik chaired the meeting for about fifteen minutes and left for some workshop that she had to attend… or something like that; so much for having a discussion about my research today. The other four members didn’t know the direction of the meeting. Actually I don’t see their function in the committee at all… all they do is relay messages and liase with the authors of the pre-decided articles. Even Ann could do that :P; at one point I had to listen to them condemn my English writing (I had to write one of the articles in the last issue… I got crap so I wrote crap… simple…) “… the English is horrible.” Well let’s see them check the articles one by one this time… actually I shouldn’t get so worked up about this; I mean the article could have been better. But I wasn’t in the mood that day; and the due date was so close… oh well… the heck with it.
Later, Mama Anne called and told me that a letter had arrived for me at her house… it’s actually the offer letter my admission at University of Malaya. I am so happy… finally I’ll be a registered student. Registration sure took long enough.
I heard on the news that some kid got beat up to death at Gurney Drive… such a horrible thing to happen. The thing is, I used to live there… gosh. It is such a good neighborhood and the problem makers are not from there at all… I remember how the biker gang used to create a ruckus in the wee hours of the night. Sometimes they would have fights. The residents there would complain and report them to the police, but they kept coming back. Damned hooligans…

tHe wEEkeNd...

Hey Boo… It’s been some time since my last post so lets make a quick post now… I want to talk about the weekend… what a weekend it had been… we had Grandma, Auntie Fairus and family, and Uncle Izatdin and family over for the weekend. It was kinda fun having people around the house; usually everything is quiet around the house. The kitchen was producing food every few hours or so to make sure all our guests had enough to eat… the children however, requires some getting used to. I guess the house is not children proof… all my little cousins seemed to have enjoyed their stay. I am happy. I did hear some things about Grandma and Ayah Uda but I am not going near that; it’s just a depressing story that shouldn’t take up our time on earth *smiles*
We took them to the clubhouse and the children enjoyed their time at the pool. I did too.
I am going to stop here for now… will write again later… there’re some documents that need my attention urgently now…

5 Questions

1. Rambutans. Whats up with that?

I hate Rambutans… they are hideous hairy-testical-like appearance doesn’t appeal to me at all… they attract ants… they’re not tasty and worse of all THEY GET STUCK IN BETWEEN YOUR TEETH *grins* Yucks!!! I don’t eat rambutans… even out of the can… I only take one at most (when I feel really obligated to; like when my aunt or grandma serves them).
Rambutans are seasonal fruit… bla bla bla

2. You're currently running your own business while also pursuing your masters - would you have any advice (based on your experiences, good and bad) for those of us out there who might also be thinking about setting up our own business one day?

Hmm… the first question was easier 
I would say yes. While it may sound glamorous to be a young business owner, running a business is not always smooth sailing. One has to get used to ‘square one’ as business deals, more often than not, will lead you all over the place and leave you standing back where you started before you even realize it. There’s always people just out to get your money and take advantage of you. While people who work for you try to squeeze as much from you by putting the least possible effort, people whom you work for will try to make you work as much as humanly possible for the least amount of payment. It’s always the case… of course the scenario worsens especially because you are young (and hence thought to be inexperienced…) and viewed as the spoilt-snot-nose-know-nothing-brat who is lucky enough to own the company and trying to beat seasoned players at their own game… so it’s always best to try and listen before you react. You’ll be more respected and if you have some advantage over them (e.g. being the son of a bloody rich oil tycoon, being royalty, a member of the Mafia or even being the son of the Prime Minister), don’t be shy to throw your weight around to get your way… hey, even if you don’t do it… everyone will automatically assume that you do, so you might as well gain something from it. Also there’re always risks involved when talking about business… unlike the working life, where you can expect a paycheck safely and nicely credited into your account at the end of every month (whether you are doing your work, or not … as long as you don’t get caught slacking off that is…. and whether the company is running at a loss or not … and whether there are problems that the company has to face…) being the owner of a business means you have to think about your company all the time and there are good times and of course bad times as well… basically you are your own motivation… if you don’t get things done, you don’t get paid… simple. Also, if you are not careful, you’ll end up being conned and getting law suit for ten million dollars… basically, you take care of you own ass!
Actually, being is business owner is not all bad… at the end of the day… when a project is done and accomplished; no matter how little you make; the accomplishment is all yours… the company is all yours… those people walking about outside your office all work for you, and that five digit Director’s allowance plus a Gold Credit Card for Entertainment Expense… all yours… *smiles*
As for studying… well, I graduated as a Chemical Engineer and I feel that even though I am a business owner I haven’t accomplished enough; career wise that is. Since I am my own motivation; I run my own time; pursuing my academics is purely motivated by that desire to accomplish something as an engineer. In my particular case, I want to be able to teach engineering one day… money isn’t everything after all… so… like this, I get the best of both worlds… or at least I am struggling to get the best of both worlds.
Ermm… what was the question again?! Oh okay… I am still within scope… *wink* so to sum it all up…
If you feel the calling to stop doing the things your boss tells you to do and have acquired enough ‘balls’ to start up your own business… DO SO!!! Just make sure you listen to the right people and always consider the consequences before you make a decision. You won’t regret it.

3. You love cooking! What is the best dish that you have EVER tasted (and if you know it – what’s the recipe?)

Ah… this question is more fun… let’s see…
I like to chomp down a lot of things… I don’t know if this qualifies as a dish… but I like to eat Banana Chocolate Muffins. The rich chocolaty taste… hehehe
And it so happens that I know the recipe by heart.
Here it goes:

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
(Makes 12 large muffin)
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoon double action baking powder
3 eggs
1 ½ cup caster sugar
1 ½ cup corn oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ cup milk
2 banana (sliced)
1 cup Chocolate Chips
Pinch salt
Method:
Preheat oven to 240 degrees Celsius. Sieve together flour, cocoa power and baking powder in a bowl. In another bowl mix milk, sugar and corn oil and lightly mix. In another bowl lightly beat eggs. Fold in eggs into the milk-sugar batter and lightly stir. Add vanilla and salt. Pour in the flour mix and Chocolate Chips into the batter and lightly stir just until mixed (DO NOT OVER STIR!!!). The batter should be a little crumbly. You may add some nuts if you want but if you do, you may want to fill the cups to the top because you may have extra batter. Spoon batter (do not pour) into the muffin cups (large) in the muffin tray, half full; put a few slices of banana and top it up until almost full (it doesn’t rise much). If you want your muffins to spill out like Mrs. Field’s Muffins, fill to top. Place 2 – 3 slices of banana on the top of each muffin. Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until stick comes out clean when poked into the muffin. Cool on rack.
Muffins are generally good enough to take as it is with coffee or tea. But if you could spare the calories I have a few suggestions on how to make the dish even tastier. Serve muffin with vanilla ice cream and pour heavy cream or whipped cream. Add chocolate fudge if you really don’t mind the calories. Cherries can be added to.
Gosh I sound like some cookbook. Anyways, try this out okay. And if you have any question, just drop me a message or give me a call.
Ok next question.

4. Egypt and Jordan, amongst other places, are mentioned as places where you've lived before. How does life in each of the places you've been to compare to here in Malaysia?

Oh okay… this is a long one…
We’ll start with Egypt. When we moved to Egypt I was quite young (like 11 years old) thus quite open to the changes in lifestyle. Life there is different in every way so where do I start… Hmmm… well, when I move around, I find myself adapting to the local lifestyle. The first thing I picked up in Egypt is how to ask around. Life started as a tourist at first, not being able to speak Arabic and most people there are not able to speak English. So life is different in the way we communicate. We always become more visual when we live in a country with a foreign language, until you pick up the language at least.
Then there’s the family issue. Life in Egypt was life without family. No cousins and uncles. There weren’t that many Malaysians as well, so we had to adopt the diplomats and people who worked at the embassy as family and friends.
Hang on… this question is getting hard… Hmm…
School was different. We went at 8 and left at 3:30 in the afternoon. The teachers taught in English and most of our friends were Arabs, although my best friend was an English boy named Hasona… we started in school in autumn, so that like late September there, and go to school until late spring (late May). We are off in the summer. It’s too hot in the summer anyways. It never rains (it’s the Sahara. Duhhh) although we get sandstorms more frequently in winter. If it does rain (once every few months or so) it’ll be declared a public holiday. The roads will be too muddy and it’d be very dirty everywhere.
Food was different too… the food in Egypt is more Mediterranean… tomatoes in everything. Everything is so cheap. And everything can be bought. If you had money you are king. You can pay someone to do anything for you. Our apartment was nice. It’s not too big but we had a good view of the three Great Pyramids of Giza. We see them everyday.
This is beginning to sound like some old grandma story… *sigh* I don’t think it’s what Pat had in mind…
Jordan was a nice place… we had a nice villa with a very beautiful garden… we had peaches, roses, figs, grapes, iris and my very own vegetable garden. Jordan is a rich Arab country… basically everyone there is well off… well, mostly. It snowed it winter. Hot in summer.
I’ll try to sum it up…
Egypt is more money oriented. Everyone is conscious about where they stand in the society. Life there is hectic, crowed and dusty… people were everywhere… and everyone is a mr-know-it-all. It’s simple, bottom-line; you have money in Egypt, you are King.
In Jordan, everyone is rich so people don’t really care. They tend to ask about family background because coming from a good family would give someone a high level of credibility. It’s quiet in Jordan, basically everyone know everyone else.
In Istanbul, it’s very quick paced. Istanbul is a fusion of modern Europe and the old arab-like style people. I dunno… you don’t need a car in Istanbul because the public transport is so efficient. It gets really cold in winter but it doesn’t snow there. We lived in a duplex penthouse there with our own rooftop. We saw the sea from there. It’s really quite nice.
Back in Malaysia, I am all grown up. I have to go to the university, and I have to go to work. Life is all work work work… so you see that’s why I have a hard time comparing… *sobs* I want to go back to Jordan….

5. Assume that you could endow yourself with any superhero like ability - what would you take and why?

I guess I’d choose the power to control weather… like Storm in X-Men. Why? World peace…. I’d be able to stop wars with the power of the weather…nahh… actually, I’ve always imagined that it’d be really cool to be able to whip up your very own blizzard and summon ten tornadoes… it’s like all powerful or something like that… *some names of people whom I’d send the tornadoes to runs through my head* ~evil laughter in the background~

a DaY aT UM...

Hi Boo… My day at UM yesterday was quite alright. I started the day early because Mami (Uncle Mie’s stepmother) had passed on that morning. Abah wanted to go pay his last respect so he had to drop me off at UM early. I had tried to contact Luqman a couple of times because I wanted him to accompany me at the Expo they were having at the examination hall… I couldn’t get him so I called Juniady who was getting ready for work. He is a volunteer at the National Science Center again… at RM5/hr he seems content… oh well… so I started to get dressed and Luqman called back when I was in the bathroom… I returned his call afterwards and we agreed to meet there in a couple of minutes. I called Dr Nik who was already on the way there to tell her I was going to show… she wanted to introduce me to some of the researchers there… so I waited for Luqman for a few minutes because the office needed him to do something before he could leave… the Expo was quite nice… Ramang was in charge of one of Professor Masjuki’s booth… he seemed happy… I also met Dr. Sahar, En. Ibrahim… all of them still remember me somehow… but hey, who could forget… hehe Dr. Nik showed me the research using the Atomic Force Microscope that had been done by Dr. Roslan (another one of my Asasi lecturer) and I asked for his number… I later called him to tell him I was interested on the AFM and he seem to be excited to hear from me… so I guess this project is going to work after all… hopefully no more changes…
I stayed on at the Department after Friday prayers to attend a seminar by one of Professor Masitah’s student… just to see what I have to do in the future… Ang Wee Lee was there…. He is exactly how I left him… hehe Salam was also hanging around Luqman’s room and he left when we went for the seminar… Abah gone home from the funeral so he told me to get a ride from Anna… so I had to stay at Salam’s until about 7 o’clock before Anna comes to get me… I met Junaidy and Ismail there… and Salam’s housemate… who was from Sarawak and quite cute… for a guy… I was tired by then, not having fully recovered from the flu and all… by the time I got home with Anna and Zul it was like 9 o’clock…
I took a shower and chatted a little with Nathan… then a little more with Miri and Nawal (who is working at Istana Hotel now)… there were no one else online and Leonard was nice enough to amuse me because I was dead bored reading about AFMs for a few hours… he stayed until about 1:30 am or so… I think… I continued my AFM homework until about 2:40 am and then went to bed…
Today is all about lazing about and recovering… and of course playing with Puteri… I am going to clean up my hard-disk a little now… it’s a mess I tell you…
So I’ll write more later…

Hey Boo… It’s been like ages since my last post… I have been in bed all this while… *sigh* caught myself the bug. Again. You’d think after the other day I’d develop some kind of resistance. Ah well… at least I am up and about again.

fLu sEaSoN...

Hey Boo… today started early with me having to help Mama with food. I had to miss Kamal’s sister’s wedding because Tanti is terribly ill and I had to take her place as the ‘maid’ for the day… Puteri has been very cooperative with my taking over Tanti’s chores taking care of her bottles and diapers aside from the fact that Gerber has upset her little tummy and she craps four times a day… we stopped giving her that particular flavor (mixed berries)…
Pulut kuning was menu for the day with my squeezing some internet and laundry time in between… in the afternoon was a meeting out with some business associates to finalize a large deal over some coffee… that was not too bad seeing as the meeting only lasted about two hours or so… and the milkshake I ordered was crap… remember… you want milkshake, go to McDonalds… hotels make the crappiest milkshakes… then it’s back to Syed Hazmi’s house for Laksa… I only took a little portion in my bowl as I was already three quarters full at that time… then came the fruit and of course… more coffee.
Ajib was sick so I had to skip the PSII session. Damn… I was having a really bad headache nyways… nothing Panadol cannot cure… Swallowed 2 pills and I was up and about again… Anna and Zul wanted to leave early because they wanted to prepare for tomorrow (working day mah…) and so we left after coffee…
We got home a little after 8:30 pm and Tanti got really sick… I was just in time to unlock the door when she rushed in and threw up in the toilet… poor Tanti… apparently Hazim is sick too… or that’s what his status say… must be the flu season or something like that.
Anyways, they’re calling me now… for more ‘Cinderella’ duties…
So better be off then…
Bless…

biTcHy dAy...

Dear Boo… it’s almost 2:30 am now and I just got out of a meeting… you’d think that I am running some kind of mafia business… :P but this is life as I live it… I get to wake up whatever time I want but I’d have to sacrifice some things when the time comes… my partner seemed so tired, going over business strategies and the silly agreement we got from one business associates… sheesh… oh well… we managed to sort out some of the things. But hey… tomorrow is another day.
As usual at this time of the month… it’s the time to pay for bills and stuff like that… my credit card bills are still escalating despite the fact that I am trying to control my expenses. All well… all for a good cause.
I spent half part of today getting some house chores done, seeing as Tanti is unwell I’ve had to take up her portion as well… but I suppose she’d felt the same way when I was ill the other day.
I’ve been missing a lot of sleep lately, seeing meetings are going through the wee hours of the night… I think a few times this week alone.
Have I bitched about IPPP and my masters project yet?! Ah well, I was partly to blame as well… but boy was I pissed to hear that MRB is patenting what I am doing… if they knew this was coming in the first place, why the heck offer me in the first place. Damned fools… so now I am again left with a new project… more or less back to square one for the fourth time… it doesn’t get bitchier than this I tell you!!!
*sigh* it’s kinda late… I better get some shut eye before I become bitchier than I already am…. *curse words running through my mind*
Bless…

yOu kNoW mE?

I just found this on my friends blog. It's nice... Bless...

To know me is more than just a look,
Judging me takes more than a talk,
I'm not whatever you think you know,
If you only took ten minutes to look and talk with me...

Never judge me from the first look,
I might be ugly and poor,
But I'm not too stupid to understand the disgust on your face...

gRaNdMa'S pLaCe...

Hey Boo… I called Professor Nik at about ten but there was no answer and her cell phone is off… I guess she wants to rest before her trip. Started a little on the I3 article… Describing innovation is apparently ‘bitchier’ than I thought. I didn’t get to finish though. Mama and Abah wanted to see Tok Ani so the whole house was hauled along… Haven’t seen Tok Ani in ages. It’d be nice to see her. I was the last to get dressed because I was in front of the PC the whole time. I just grabbed a grey snug-fir t-shirt and my favorite jeans. Too tired to care. I didn’t even shave today. Had breakfast in the car (burger and coffee) and we went to get some mangoes for Tok Ani.
We were the first to arrive and Zul went to pick up Auntie Fairuz because Uncle Bazid was working. Abang Ngah (Auntie Dillah’s 2nd son) and Atikah were there too. Zabir has really grown. He seems to be skinnier but taller. I guess it’s because he just recovered from flu. Bazil was totally different too… He’s so grown up… Well… at least since I last saw him. Uncle Muzaffar arrived later in his new Kia Carnival… still nice and shiny too.
We had lunch and later had cucur pisang for tea. There was something up with Uncle Kudin and Uncle Muzaffar again I think but we are just too tired to care. It’s just the same old thing. Better to stay out and quiet. Madiah seem to be more liberal with her clothing nowadays. Seems a bit too tramp-ish to me, but who cares. They brought the twins too… what a bunch of cute babies.
We left a little after Asar…
Back home, I chatted with Nathan a while… some love life crisis… everyone go through that sometimes… I’ve never had a partner so I don’t bet on him listening to my advices so much. Played Solitaire with Pradeep and lost miserably… as usual.
I want to get the I3 out of my hair but I am just too sleepy and lazy now… so there…
Koi day coming on Neopets… Can’t wait.

Hey Boo... Meeting ended 15 minutes ago... Guess it went rather well... Need to get a draft agreement ready by Tuesday... *sigh*
Was doing some thinking too... Professor Nik told me my proposal has been approved by the department and the faculty... just waiting for Senate's approval... should get my letter by next month... need to get a program sorted out ASAP. Professor Nik is leaving for Japan tomorrow. I don't think I'll be able to catch her in the morning. I'll just have to sort things out with Ann in the meantime...
Oh well... back to work... *yawn*

tHe wEEk oF fLu...

Hey Boo,

Time just seems to past by me so quickly lately… I haven’t the slightest idea what I have done these past few days… I have to think hard just to recall the things that I’ve done and gone through to blog… it’s really starting to get to me now… L

Let’s see… I think I am not the only one though… a few of my blog friends are also slacking of their blogs too… I guess the simplest explanation is: there’s probably something in the water :P or it’s just that we’ve all been busy or getting too much sleep.

I finally met Kamal after so long. He dropped over to give me the invitation to his sister’s wedding. He seems to be happy with his job. Big shot trader at Petronas… I am happy for him. He couldn’t stay long because he had a bunch more invitations to deliver.

This week Mama and Tanti caught the flu… Anna got it last week, and I got it the week before… must be the weather.

My masters is progressing very slowly… A few of my friends wants to further their studies too. I know this because to date three have contacted me asking about writing proposals and stuff like that. I guess I will not be the few after all… before it was just Ang Wee Lee, Luqman and me… now there’s Rifqah, Premjit, Fazrina, Nathan and maybe even Ramang… I guess the Chemical Engineers are of my graduating class are more drawn to the academic side… or perhaps they are just looking for excuses to not get a job or get away from work (not unlike myself, lol). We’ll see how that goes.

Professor Nik hasn’t contacted me this week. Maybe she’s still sick since Monday. Or maybe she’s tired of calling me… whichever the case I’ll have to see her on Monday. Want this issue of the Bulletin of my hand once and for all…

Settling my bills this month has made me realize something. I spend a lot… before I just thought I spend a lot… but now I know I spend a lot… a lot a lot… things are getting expensive too… even groceries cost more… I think like 10 – 15% more…

Why am I telling you this?! I sound like some old out-of-job parent trying to raise ten kids… lol

Now that I know this emailing thing works… I guess it’ll make posting easier…

I’ll write more soon. Bye for now.

Bless…

wHaT hAppEnEd laSt wEEk?!

Hey Boo… It’s Monday again… What happened last week?! Hmmm… Let’s see… the only thing I remember from last week is meeting Professor Nik on Thursday. We had a discussion on the IPPP Bulletin… reminded her about my MEngSc thingy… had a meeting with Zawiyah and her husband, Raman… total waste of my precious time :P
Hang on… I think Fairuz came to stay the week for Adik’s wedding on Wednesday. Nick and Boy came on Friday. They mingled well… as expected. Even though they are stepbrothers… Adik’s wedding on Saturday was nice too…
Sunday morning, swim, Jacuzzi, sauna… Ahhhhh *relief*….
Hmm… brought them to the Curve on Sunday and sent them off to the bus station.
So here I am now… better check my emails now
Bless…

GooD dAy...

Hey Boo… yesterday was a good day… it was a Sunday, I had a good rest at home, got a lot of work done, chatted with old buddies, replied emails and had a big lunch. Everyone had something to do so I had the house to myself. With the peace and quiet I managed to get rid of some of the work that I have…
Pity we couldn’t go to Adik’s wedding though… I would have liked to see… oh well, I’ll just have to wait for the pictures I guess.

I LoVe yOu...

Hey Boo… It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything… aside from being sick I was awfully busy with other stuff. Work as usual is stressful and provides and endless supply of worries and obstacles to be cleared out. Sometimes I feel like there are people who dedicate their lives into making other people’s lives miserable. Well… enough of that…
Anna’s birthday was on the 3rd… didn’t get her anything because I didn’t know what to get her… so I made dinner (as usual :P), we had cake and ate dinner together. I think she was very happy with it because we used to eat dinner together everyday… before she got married that is.
On Thursday… Mama Anne invited us and some other family member for dinner at her house. We had some prayers to ask God for blessing for her newly renovated house (which is quite big btw), Hazim’s completion of the Quran recital, ‘tahlil’ for our grandparents and of course blessing for Adik’s wedding. Uncle Mie brough some nice jackets for Tanti and I from China and a Hermes bag for Mama… it’s really very nice…
They finally installed the Astro in our unit… other than that it’s the same old routine I guess… it must be because I haven’t written for so long that I’ve lost touch… but it’s okay… I am sure I’ll be better soon…
In the mean time remember that I love you
Bless…
